Messages from Tokyo
Mixed Media Participatory Installation: 1200 sheets of paper made in Tokyo and dyed individually by the artist, waxed thread, Mizuhiki cord, participants responses to personal questions about Tokyo.
About
Participants chose a color of paper from a full spectrum. They then respond to one of six personal questions about Tokyo and their relationship to it and hang it from the mizuhiki cord.
Mizuhiki cord is used as a traditional craft material in Japan, but also specifically in wrapping presents for certain special occaisions. The size of the paper is similar to a notecard one might mail to a friend.
